The training component of the EYB programme
consists of the four modules:
The five modules are closely interrelated and
should normally all be dealt with in training. The growth
entrepreneurs will have clear plans for strengthening the
business in all four functional areas upon completion of the
training component of the programme, and will have specific
expansion plans built on strengthened business functions.
For all the 4 modules, the appropriate content is systematically
presented with the following format and consistency
- Content covering the business concepts in
each chapter, using examples, illustrations and cross references
- Exercises on content above
- A Case Study outline in Chapter 1 and captions
in subsequent chapters
- Exercises on the Case Study
- Exercises on one’s own business
- Instruction to develop Growth Plan
More importantly, each module ends with
a business growth plan, which enables participants to design
strategies of what they will do in their own businesses to
achieve business expansion. The growth plans emanating from
the 5 individual training modules will constitute the growth
plan for the enterprise. The 5 modules are;

the transformation process to create output out of the resources
put in the business. These resources, that can be referred

Business organizations are essentially driven
by human beings. Human beings employ the organization’s
capital and other resources to achieve outputs. They have
needs, wants and desires, which must be matched with the organizational
goals and objectives in order to achieve optimum performance
and output by the employees. Any organization’s human
resources are the most important resource that they have.
The Human Resources module will take participants through
all essential human resources functions including the following:

As the business grows, the management of finances
becomes very critical to the organization. This is so because
the business may inevitably require internal and / or external
finance to fund its growth process. In addition, with business
growth arising from increasing sales and profits, more money
flows in and out of the business. The Financial Management
module introduces growth-oriented enterprises key aspects
of financial management to support growth, such as
- Defining finance growth objectives
- Analyzing and interpreting financial statements
for growth

- How to safeguard business resources.
Training delivery takes place within approx.
3-4 days, including game sessions.
Who to participate in
the training modules?
The training is primarily meant for owners and managers of
businesses. As an owner or Director, you may want to decide
to participate yourself only. However, if you have functional
managers or other important staff in your business who can
benefit from the programme, we do recommend that you also
enrol them for the programme. In particular if you have line
managers responsible for marketing, Operations ,human resources
management and finance, we strongly recommend that they participate
at least in the area of their expertise and responsibility.
This way you will build a good technical working relation
with them in these areas upon completion of the EYB course.
