Ability to Facilitate Linkages
/ Involvement in business management training interventions:
I have been working with informal sector businesses
since 1995, facilitating their access to relevant business
support services and market opportunities (local and
international). Facilitation includes setting up a responsive
market information service, for the enterprises to grow
from the informal to formal sector. Linkages have been
developed with other agencies (business associations,
micro finance institutions) providing additional support
or training.
In October 2000 I was selected as delegation leader
to the United States to commence an entrepreneurship
programme developed by the Great Lakes Consortium of
International Training Development and aimed at fostering
networking and strategic alliances between Zambian business
women and their American counterparts. This collaboration
has comprised coordinating, maintaining and continually
developing a wide range of cross-sectoral partnerships
in the public and private sectors, international bodies,
etc.
As a practicing consultant with a registered firm l
have been able to carry out engagements in the area
of Human Resources Management and capacity building
of community based organizations in urban and peri-urban
parts of the country. To date, my experience has been
mainly with businesses still at the SME stage though
many have been in operation for more than two years.
During the past eight years, l have participated in
the setting up of an export-oriented enterprise and
gained recognition of government, national as well as
international organizations and SMEs. In addition l
have contributed to enhanced awareness of business opportunities
available for SMEs through exposure to innovative methods
and practices in light of a dwindling formal sector.
I consider myself to be well motivated in all areas
of my professional and personal life and I’m committed
to continual development. I have highly developed interpersonal
skills, am good organizer and able to mobilize resources
efficiently.
