PROJECT TEAM

The EYB and SIYB Team
The EYB & SIYB Regional Project Office (RPO) has been set up by the International Labour Organization to coordinate the implementation of the EYB and SIYB regional programmes in Eastern and Southern Africa. The office is located in Harare in Zimbabwe.
The EYB & SIYB Regional Project Office comprises of an international team of Small Enterprise Development Officers (SEDOs) that is supported by a number of administration staff. The staff is managed by the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of the SIYB regional programme. The Chief Technical Advisor reports to the Senior Small Enterprise Development Specialist in the ILO Sub Regional Office for Southern Africa (harare@ilo.org) and to the global coordinator of the SIYB programme in ILO headquarters (musabayana@ilo.org).

The members of the EYB Project Team in the RPO are:

Robert Zegers from The Netherlands
Robert (RZegers@ilosiyb.co.zw) does the overall management of the EYB and SIYB programmes, and is in charge of programme sustainability, programme design & delivery, and the country programme in Mozambique. Robert has a Masters Degree in economics and MBA from the Netherlands. He has worked with ILO in entrepreneurship development for approx. 5 years, and also worked with WHO, and with Deloitte and Touche as management consultant.

 

Mafelile Saidi from Lesotho

Mafelile (MSaidi@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of Training Programmes. Her responsibilities are:

  • Quality training
  • Availability of training programmes
  • Coordinating trainers' training activities
  • Organizing seminars

Country programme - Tanzania

Mafelile has a university degree in education. She has gathered ample experience as Master Trainer in the SIYB programme prior to joining the EYB & SIYB project office. Mafelile is currently in the process of obtaining her MBA in South Africa.


Lucia Mandengenda from Zimbabwe

Lucia is in Charge of Linkages to Finance for the SIYB programme and Linkages for the EYB programme . Her responsibilities are:

  • To develop financial and business linkages for the EYB programme
  • Develop the SIYB linkages strategy
  • Integrate Linkages into the SIYB training programmes
  • Select suitable financial institutions for the SIYB prorgamme
  • Develop system to refer SIYB graduates to financial institutions

National programme - Zimbabwe

Lucia is a seasoned banker and has experience in lending to small, medium and corporate clients. She has an Honours Degree in Economics and is finalising her MBA through the Oxford-Brookes University in the UK. She has extensive training experience in the SIYB programme at Master Trainer, Trainer and entrepreneurial level over the 5 years in the RPO.


Roy Matenga from Zimbabwe
Roy (RMatenga@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of the Expand Your Business programme in the office. His duties include:

  • Overseeing the finalization of the EYB materials
  • Coordinating the selection of EYB Trainers and their certification
  • Coordinating the appointment of EYB national coordinators
  • Coordinating and facilitating during EYB Training of Trainers seminars
  • Working with Country Liaison Officers and the Marketing Officer to implement EYB launch programmes and the Training of Enterpreneurs seminars.

Country programme - Uganda
Roy is currently pursuing an MBA with the University of Zimbabwe

 

Jealous Chirove from Zimbabwe
Jealous (JChirove@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of marketing His critical performance areas are:

  • Developing tools, strategies and plans to assist partner organizations to market the SIYB programme
  • Develop tools, strategies and plans to assist EYB partners to market the EYB programme
  • Equip SIYB Trainers and Master Trainers as well as EYB Trainers and national coordinators to implement their marketing plans
  • Publicing the SIYB and EYB newsworthy events through the SIYB and EYB Bulletins, SIYB and EYB websites and other media
  • Coordinating media and press relations with the assistance of local stakeholders
  • Training EYB Trainers in the Marketing Management module

Country programme - Malawi
Jealous has Bchelors and Masters degrees in Economics and Demography as well as a Certificate in Marketing Management. He is currently pusuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management

 

Evans Lwanga from Zambia
Evans (ELwanga@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of Monitoring & Evaluation. His critical performance areas are:

  • Developing the Monotoring and Evaluation system and tools for both the SIYB and EYB programmes
  • Equiping SIYB Trainers and Master Trainers and EYB trainers to use the M & E tools and and system
  • Managing and updating the SIYB and EYB databases including the production of periodic and ad hoc reports as required
  • Coordinating the preparation of and conducting impact assessment with local stakeholders for the SIYB and EYB programmes
  • Developing and profiling SIYB and EYB case studies for publication


Country programme - Zambia
Evans is currently pusuing an MBA with ESAMI

 

Sibongile Sibanda from Zinbabwe
Sinbongile (SSibanda@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of material development. Sibongile holds an MBA degree from the University of Zimbabwe. Her critical performance areas are:

  • Knowledge and skills transfer
  • Ensuring the sustainable availability of SIYB training materials in the project countries
  • Coordinating the adaptation of and printing of local SIYB materials
  • Coordiating the printing and sustainable local availability of EYB materials


The administrative staff are:

 

Oswald Makombeshamu from Zimbabwe
Oswald (OMakombeshamu@ilosiyb.co.zw) is in charge of material development. His critical performance areas are:

  • Mantaining Accounting system
  • Budgetary control
  • Administrative supervision
  • Procuring materials
  • Managing petty cash

Oswald holds an MBA degree from a South African university

 

Esinah Mushazhirwa
Esinah (EMushazhirwa@ilosiyb.co.zw) is Finance and Adminstration assistant. Her key responsibilities are:

  • Recording and processing of finacail transactions
  • Verifying data from readily available sources
  • Maintatining specific accounts
  • Computing and compiling financial data
  • Processing payments for claims and services
  • Perfoming verification related work

 

Doris Jindu
Doris (DJindu@ilosiyb.co.zw) is a senior secretary in the office. Her functions are:

  • Arranging CTA's meetings and appointments
  • Mantaining CTA's calendar
  • Receiving and routing all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Maintaining leave records, personal and office files
  • Making travel arrangements
  • Manning switch-board and E-mail
  • Workshops logistics

 

Gift Maenda
Gift (GMaenda@ilosiyb.co.zw) is a Senior Driver. His responsibilities are:

  • Customs clearing for imports and exports
  • Distributing the SIYB Bulletin
  • Vehicle mantainance
  • Stationery control
  • Office deliveries
  • Receiving official visitors and guests from the airport
  • Banking

 

Fungai Mashambanhaka
Fungai's (FMashambanhaka@ilosiyb.co.zw) responsibilities are:

  • Assisting the Project Secretary with all front office duties
  • Collection and delivery of all project mail and documents
  • Photocopying
  • Ensuring availability of office supplies
  • Maintaining the office
  • Material sales and dispatch
